1913 – Hindsgaul was Founded
Hindsgaul first specialized in shop interior but from the 1930s, Hindsgaul began to also import mannequins from the US. During World War II, the delivery of mannequins from the US became difficult, so in 1942 Hindsgaul produced the first Hindsgaul mannequin.
1970s – A World-Known Brand
In the 1970s, Hindsgaul had become famous world-wide. Hindsgaul mannequins were everywhere, and 98 % of the production in Denmark was exported all over the world. Back then, Hindsgaul mannequins were copies of real people, and Hindsgaul was always searching for the next mannequin model.
1974 – Darrol Established
Whereas Hindsgaul focused in naturalistic, human-like mannequins, Darrol was established as its stylistic counterpart. Throughout the years, Hindsgaul and Darrol has co-existed, focusing on each their type of mannequin. Darrol mannequins are known to be stylistic and versatile in their expressions.
1980s – The Era of Designers
At the end of the 1980s, Hindsgaul mannequins were made in design studios in Denmark, France, Britain, and the US in a collaboration between designers and sculptors. Mannequins were styled by professional stylists and makeup artists to get the perfect look. The Angie series, made by designer Tom Ellery and sculptor Linsay B. turned out to be a worldwide success.
2010 – Retailment Founded
Retailment was founded and with time comprised both Hindsgaul and Darrol mannequins as well as its shop interior branches Retailment Interior and Dangent. The company is situated in Stenløse, Denmark.
Now – Experts in Mannequins and Shop Interior
Retailment continues the legacy of Hindsgaul and Darrol mannequins and is now a leader within developing, designing, and producing display mannequins. We also specialize in shop interior and shop fitting: shelves, display tables, racks – everything you need to create the shop of your dreams.
